CT YDs attend DNC Winter Meeting
Kerry Szeps, Adam Wood, Lex Paulson, and Andrew Cascudo joined the CT delegation in DC for the DNC winter meeting. With former Gov. Howard Dean leading in terms of votes for the position of DNC Chair, all other candidates withdrew their candidacies to support him. Heavy campaigning occurred for the positions of Vice Chair - 2 openings for women and 1 opening for a man - right up until the vote on Saturday, February 12th. Each candidate was unique, qualified, and exceptional. The delegates choose Congressman Mike Honda, Susie Turnbull, and Linda Chavez-Thompson as their Vice Chairs.
On Thursday, February 17th, a tribute to Terry McAuliffe featured President Bill Clinton and Senator John Kerry. Both had kinds words for the outgoing chair. Politicians from across the country made appearances during the meeting to campaign for their candidates and to wish Dean the best. The Connecticut Young Democrats were impressed at Dean's ambitions to raise $200,000 for each state party. This kind of money can help all state parties purchase the technology many still lack.
